A recent cablegram from London reported that Sir Hugh Denison had purchased the well-known' English horses I'larinero and Bereetoi, In addition, ,ne secured live mares, and his new. .acquisition* ait- now on their way to Australia. Harinero will go to the Sledmere Stud of Sic Hugh Denisou, in New South. Wales, arid Bereetoi. will be raced; before he. is retired to the stud. , ' . • The purchases of Harineio ami Uerestoi will be welcomed by racing men m Australia. Haririero is by the sensationally successful sire Kandford, whose stock iv England this year won almost £70,000 in stakes. He will be the first of the stock of the Irish stallion to come to Australia. He is a four-year-old by: Blandford from Atchasi, end was trained by R. C. Dawsoil for Mr. AY, Barnett, a big shipping man in England. A brother to the English Derby winner Trigo, he won the Irish Derby,'lrislr St. Leger, and the Greenlwin Plate Altogether his stake winning amounted to £6750..Berestoi. a three-year-, ol<l by Beresford frcym Ttoytoi, .wa&,trained by the veteran M./ D.' Peacock. . He.won four races and £1340 in stakes as a two-year-old, and this year his outstandingsuccess was to win the King Edward VIJ Stakes, of £2415, at Ascot. He also deadheated for first in the Irwell Plate at Manchester. He will be the first of the stock of Beresford to be introduced to Australia, and the enterprise of. Sir Hugh Denison in adding such famous names to the breeding industry of Australia is an obvious gesture of his confidence in the future of racing in the Commonwealth; ,
