RAMSAY TROPHY RACE

A moderate southerly was in evidence for the sailing-oft of the race l'of, the Jiamsay Trophy at Worser Buy lust Saturday, the Antoinette being the winner. She sailed much better than usual and will soon be in tho forefront again. Only five boats' started, as some skippers are away on .holidays. The start of the rac) was spoiled by Ihe Kahlin sailing down the starting line on the port tack and causing several boats ,on the. starboard tack to give way in order to avoid a collision. As it was, the new boat Valkyrie got a splii side out of the resulting confusion. One would hardly think it necessary, yet this opportunity must be seized to impiess on crews of boats the paiamount importance of keeping a proper lookout. Whether this task is delegated to one of the crew, or the skipper assumes the responsibility himself, the lookout should not'relax racing (ir ciuisinjr. The Kathleen, having diMsntangled herself, made a good break with the Mabellc threatening, the ill si two marks being roandcrt ill that order. Tho- Alnhollo caught and passed Ihe Kathleen on the long run, but lost her ad vantage through clumsy spinnaker work. Tin; Spitfire improved from IJiinl position to n'rs,t and. maintained her lead to the end, making fastest time. She had insuflicient margin, however, to gain a place. Plaetngs were: Antoinette, 11. Ti. liobinson (9 niin), 'Sh Sfiin I .Is, 1; Kathleen, F. Mumi'oid (oniin), 3h 37m, 4.->sec, 2; Mabelle, V. Christonsen (4uun), 3h 58in, .'I. Also started: Spitfire (scr, 3h 58in .'10b; Valkyrie (7iniii), 4h 2min. The Xahlin was disqualified and withdrew from the race.

An ideal breeze from the south on Sunday, worthy of Mediterranean waters, enabled e-\teii.sive cruising to be done.
