Shops in.Lotadon and the provinces have been'crowded ill the week. It'i* reported that four big stores in London between, them have taken nearly £1,000,000 this week. Although business on the London Stock Exchange is not particularly active fhere » a* tono °£ cheerfulness in all markets and price* are generally firm. GUt^gwf *ecunties have appreciated somewhat and Dominions' Government stock*, though not in great demand, have shown strength. Industrials have been active, with steady investment demand for companies engaged in luxury trades. Mr. "Neville Chamberlain's optimistic epeech in the House of Commons jesterday, in which he said he expected a further- increase use in wholesale price and a continuance of'cheap money and an international currency standard, is likely to haveV good'effect on the Stock Exchange, and the outlook for the New Year appear*' to be good. .... There has teen considerable activity in •the capital, issue market, borrowers taking advantage vof the favourable monetary conditions.
