WINGATUI GALLOPS

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

DUNEDIN, This Day. Considering that it was really a fiual galloping morning tho work at Wiiigatui this morning was uninteresting. The firmness of tho going makes trainers afraid of breaking their horses down, and tho little fast work was carried out on the heavily topdresscd plough track. Christchurch, Ashburton, and Washdyke horses arrived by a special train. Most of them were trotted or cantered later in the morning. Grand Finalo does not look well^ and is not pleasing his trainer. He completed a circuit by running homo, the last half-mile in 55 2-ssec. Queen of Song, who looks, well, was let off with two rounds at half-pace. Oliver was sent a mile and a quarter, but always under restraint, and covered the last nine furlongs in 2nun 10 1-5 sec. Te Ahaurangi .ran three furlongs pleasingly in 39sec. Last Link and Royal Pal ran nine furlongs well within themselves, the last seven taking lmin 41sce. Traveuna, well bandaged behind, was given half-pace work over two circuits and pulled up sound. Tizzy, with her trainer up, was under a strong hold when running homo the last three furlongs of a circuit in 41 3-ssec. Jaunt jumped three hurdles- well, taking lmia 17sec from tho first to third hurdle. \Pauoeha1 and Tranado were sent over four hurdles. At tho second fence Tranado hit hard and fell at the fourth.' Panocha always had it on him for speed and jumping, but they did not go as fast as Jaunt. Morena, looking none the worse for his unauthorised gallop up the hill on Saturday, ran the last seven. furlongs of a circuit in lmin 38iec., ( Pala, Melba, and Linguist ran half a mile in 52 3-ssec. Meadow Lark ran three furlongs in 36 4-586 C.' Last March took 3sseo for the samo distance along tho back. Dressy took 60 2-ssec to run half a mile, but was not extended. I The two-year-old Fireguard ran an j easy seven furlongs. - J
