UPPER HUTT LEAGUE

The position of the teams at the end cf the first round in the Upper Hutt Cricket League competition is as follows:—Ordnance 45 points, Training Depot 44, Trentham B 40, Upper Hutt A 26, St. Joseph's 25, Methodiet 7, Trenthain A 16, Upper Hutt B 11. Results of matches played on Saturday are:— Ordnance, 96 (Hughes 28) and 63 for three (Wilson 42 not out), beat Upper Hutt B, 58 and 78 (Skertou 30, Irvine 22), by fceven wickets. Bowling: For Ordnance, Hughes took ten wickets for 83, Wilson six for 25, and Reid three for 25; for Upper Hutt B, Hazelwood took seven for 49 and N. McGhie four for 45. Anj 8-point win for Ordnance. St. Joseph's, 103 (Nash, eon., 35) and 132 for five (Ingpen 62, Nash, sen., 42 not out), beat Trentham A, 48 and 36. Bowling: For the winners, Nash, sen., took six for 39, Allen three for 6, and Hoey three for 7; for Trentham A, A very took eleven for 100. An 8-point win lor St. Joseph's. Training Depot, 259 for two, declared (Baker 160 not out, Anderson 45), beat Trentham B (Grigg 42, Williamson 20). Bowling: For the winners, Burgess took seven for 23, Fraser three for 20. Training Depot won on the'first innings. Upper Hutt A, 88 (Duske 21, Archer 20) and 138 for five, declared (A. Marryatt 36, Archer 34, E. Marryatt 23), beat Methodist, 56 and 65 for four (N. McCarthy 27 not out, Purser 25 not out). Bowling: For Upper Hutt, Russell took three for 4 ("hat-trick"), Dick two for 6, Archer two for 7; fdr Methodist, A. McCarthy took eeven for 27. Upper Hutt won on the first innings.
