CRAWFORD DEFEATS QUIST

MELBOURNE, December 16. rive thousand people were present at the continuation of the Victorian lawn tennis championship meeting at Kooyong yesterday. Results are as follows:— Men's Singles. Final: Crawford defeated Quist, 6-2, S-6, 6-3. Women's Singles. Final: Miss Bound defeated Miss Hartigan, 9-7, 6-0. Men's Singles (under Nineteen). Bromwich defeated Huxley, 6-1, 6-4. Women's Doubles. Semi-final: Misses Dearman and Lylo ' defeated Misses G. and I>. Stevenson,! 6-2, 6-0. Final: Misses Dearman and Lyle de-1 feated Miss Hound and Mrs. Harper,' 6-4, 6-3. Tho winners played well in combination, but Miss Kound, who' dominated the play on her side, tried to do too much. Men's Doubles. Quist and Tiirnbull defeated Crawford and Hopman, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2. In the men's singles final Crawford, playing confidently and with great concentration, attacked front the net, forcing Quist with every shot. Quist played courageous tennis to win the second set, but was-driven, into errors which robbed him of chances. If Crawford maintains today's standard he is unlikely to be beaten this season.
