WEDDING

PHILLIPS—SAUNDERS.

A wedding of interest was solemnised at the Methodist Church, Lower Hutt, recently, when Enid Blanche Vivian, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E, Saunders, Lower Hutt, was married to Leslie Vaughan, only son of Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Phillips, Bclmont. The church was beautifully decorated with pink roses, Christmas lilies, and blue hydrangeas by friends of the bride. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. A. Sharp, and Mr. F. F. Thomas presided at the organ.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a lovely gown of ivory pearl satin, made with a high cowl neckline, fitting bodice, and long sleeves pointed over the hands and finished with tiny satin buttons. The skirt flared from the knees and fell into a graceful train which was embroidered with a true lovers' knot in seed pearls. Her long veil of embroidered silk net, worn over the face as she entered the church, was arranged with a halo band of pearls and clusters of orange blossom. She carried a beautiful shower bouquet of white and palest jink roses, carnations, and sweet peas, and long trails of maidenhair and asparagus fern. The bridesmaids were Miss Ethel Thomas (chief) and Miss Mary Waters, of Auckland (cousin of the bride). They were frocked alike in wild-rose flowered ehiffonelle, the skirts being made with shaped godets of frills and three frills falling from the shoulders and forming the sleeves. Their wide sashes were of rose-pink satin, tied in a bustle bow and with long ends falling almost to the hemline of the frocks. Their picture hats were of fine crinoline straw, trimmed with rose velvet ribbon and pink and blue flowers, and they carried shower bouquets in shades of blue and wild-rose.

Mr. A. R. Grimwood was best man, and Mr. E. J.: Saunders was groomsman, the ushers being Messrs. W. T. Gillespie and D. A. Ballantyne. During the signing of the register Mrs. 11. A. Sharp, sang "The Prayer Perfect."

The reception was held :.n the Tua Rua Hall, where the decorations were of pink roses and sweet peas and niaidenhair fern,. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Saunders received the guests, the latter wearing tabac-brown silk' marocain, having a small diagonal stripe and trimmed with knife-pleated, frilling, a brown fur, and smart brown hat. Her bouquet was of roses in tonings of pink. Mrs. B. EPhillips, mother of the bridegroom, was in black crepe de chine, relieved with palest pink, and a model hat of black straw. Her bouquet was of crimson roses and deep red manuka.

When Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Phillips left, the bride travelled in a wine ensemble with touches of beige, and a wide hat of beige straw. Their future home will be at Bclmont.
