Subject 'to no objection being raised by the ciyic or Government authorities, play in the senior cricket matches on December 15 will be commenced at 11 a.m., continued until 1 p.m., and tlien from 2 p.m. till 6.30 p.m. The occasion will bo the public holiday marking the arrival in Wellington of H.R.H. the Duke of Gloucester. When the matter was raised at the', weekly meeting last night of the management committee of the Wellington Cricket Association, it was intended.to seek the views oi' the clubs, but refer;nce to rules revealed that the committee has. power to fix the h" 111"1 "f [)lay on any particular day. Unless 'here is a postponement iv th meanrime the day will be the second Saturlay of the fourth series of matches. Lt was decided to waive the rule prolibiting a club bktting at least four uouis on the first day continuing its innings on the second day. The possibility of- playing a series of icuior matches on Anniversary D"ay vas also mentioned. * . Mr. J. H. Phillipps said that the maried players, iv particular, looked upon Anniversary Day as one of the holilays in the cricket season that they rerc able to give to their families. Mr. W. J. R. Christophenen pointed iut that many married men played in riendly matches on Anniversary Day. The honorary secretary (Mt. A. farney) said that there would be 14 Jiituidnys available after Christmas. 4,' he competitions would be resumed after the holidays on January 5. The chairman (itr. P. B. Broad) said that the matter should be decided by tho middle "W next month. PLATERS TO. TRAIN. The sole elector (Mr. A. Duncan) advised that the following players were requested to attend representative practices nt the Basin Reserve under Mr. W. Baker, commencing from next week:— Blundell, Folcy, Symes, Morgan, EH (Wellington); Tricklebank, Dean (University); Tindill, Dustin (Midland); Hamilton (Hutt); Lamason, Wareham (Wellington College Old Boys); Ward, Wilson, Hepburn, Griffiths (Kilbirnie).
Mr. W. Hammond raised the question of th& North v. South match, and the chairman agreed that it should be kept in view.
It was decided to write to tho New Zealand Cricket Council to the effect that it w.ii assumed that the proposal for • hojwc-and-home Plonket Shield matches, for this season had been dropped find.asking what was intended to. be done in regard to the inter-Island match. The: council will also be asked when the match will- be, played if it takes p'acc, and an offer wil! be made to stage it at Wellington.
The Ilutt Club advised that it wa's willing to play any minor associations wishing to *end a team to Wellington during the holidnys. .
The Hutt Club applied for a refund of the entrance fov, paid in respect to its third grade learn, which was withdrawn without playing a match. It was decided to reply regretting that the committee was enable to accede to the request.
