EVANS BAY EVENTS
A BUSY AFTERNOON
An auspicious start was made on Saturday afternoon with the Evans Bay Yacht and Motor-boat Club's racing programme, events being' held for all classes except launches. : .There was a light south-easterly breeze, and some excellent racing was witnessed. - , The Viola was first home'by 33s.ee from the Romp in 1 the first-class keelers' -race, but the" positions were' reversed when the times were corrected. Third place went to the Wairere-11. An easy win was registered by * the Rawene in the second-class -heelers' race, in which only three yachts started.' The Una gained second place, and the Annetta (scr) had not finished at 7 p.m. One of the best races of the-afternoon was that for the , Rona-Jellicoe boats, which kept together remarkably well over the two rounds.' The winner was the Jannet, the 'lassie being'second-and the Lavina third. All the starters were on scratch. A general .classifying handicap ■ for " 18ft and under class craft attracted thirteen starters and was won by the June, with the Advance second and the Southern Maid third.
