JACKSON STREET WIDENING

Negotiations hare been concluded between the Petone Bprough Council and Mr. L. Stewart for the setting back of Mr. Stewart's building at the corner of Jackson and Britannia Streets, Petone. The work of demolition has already begun, and it 'will take about six weeks. The building contains three shops, and is the biggest job undertaken by the council SO far in connection with the widening of Jackson Street A modern building will be erected by Mr. Stewart on the new alignment of the street. It is understood that negotiations are in progress for the S.etting back of the Empire Hotel.
