Poultry faiming is a real job of work, requiring 'plenty of experience, business ability, patience, and a genuine interest in the birds themselves, who start off without this natural liking for the work will soon giVe up in despair, i Do not be misled by attractive literature from overseas. In s<imo countries poultry keeping can bo made very profitable indeed, but since we havp adopted a protective tariff for wheatgrowing, then those industries which use wheat for stock feeding must suffer. Today we are paying over 5s per bushel for fowl wheat, with other grains equally high in price, whilst our Australian co workers can purchase their supplies at almost half this price and yet obtain better prices for their eggs. No person"should start a,large poultry farm unless he can earn a good wage as a poultry assistant, or else bo prepared to risk losing his whole capv tal investment. s , ?
