HUTT VALLEY UMPIRES

A meeting of those interested in the formation of an umpires' association to act with the Hutt Valley Cricket Association was held at Petone last night. Mr. H. Goldie presided, and those present included a. sub-committee from the Hutt , Valley Cricket Association, which indicated that the move was welcomed and that the umpires would be supported to the best of the association's ability. A decision was made that an umpires' association be formed, and it was left to another meeting, to beheld next Monday., to elect the officers of the association. Mr. C. Aitken is acting as secretary pro tern. . . MERCANTILE LEAGUE. Owing to the uncertainty that existed last Saturday regarding the powers of an umpire in connection with the abandoning of games,.it has been decided by the Mercantile Cricket League's committee to draw the attention of clubs to the M.C.C. rules affecting adjournments on account of wet weather. ,
