CONSPIRACY CHARGES
PETROL TAX REFUNDS

AUCKLAND, October 30,
The trial of four men on charges of conspiring to obtain from tho Post Office refunds of petrol tax to which they were not entitled was concluded before Mr. Justice Herdman in tho Supreme Court today. Accused were Charles Joseph De Luca, grocer; Eaymond Brunton, fisherman; John Buchan, labourer, and Leslie Collier Buchan, storeman. Against Do Luca thero were two charges of false pretences and five of conspiracy to obtain money by deceit, and against the others various charges of conspiracy.
All the accused were found not guilty on the conspiracy charges. De Luea was found guilty on two charges of obtaining money by falsely representing that he had supplied certain petrol. Brunton and the Buchans were discharged, and De Luca was remanded, for sentence.
