DAIRY LEGISLATION

A start was made in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon with the debate on the second reading of the Agriculture (Emergency Powers) Bill, which proposes to give legislative effect to the Dairy Industry Commission's report for the reorganisation of the control of the industry and also to set up a Council of Production and Trade. Poison (Government, Stratford), who is president of the NewZealand Farmers' Union, indicated his intention of voting, for the Labour amendment. No other Government member had taken part in the debatd when the House adjourned at 11.46 p.m. It is expected that the Minister of Finance (the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates) will enter the lists ' today. .
