NAVAL DISCUSSIONS

JAPANESE PROPOSALS

(liritisli Official Wireless.) (Received October 27, 11 a.m.)

RUGBY, October 26.

Another meeting in connection with the preliminary naval discus* sion took place today between the Japanese and United Kingdom representatives at No. 10 Downing Street, when die Japanese delegates furnished further information in elucidation of a number of points in their proposals. A further meeting will be held shortly.

It is understood that these conversations will continue on informal lines, and the Japanese proposals have been made orally and are not embodied in any single document. Certain technical matters which have emerged were referred at today's meeting to a sub-committee of naval experts representative of both parties to the conversations, and this subcommittee met at the Admiralty -this afternoon.

Conversations between the United. States and British representatives will probably be resumed on Monday or Tuesday. Other parties to the Washington Treaty are being kept informed of the progress of these bi« lateral conversations.
