REPRESENTATIVE EIGHT

The Union (Wanganui) Boat Club's crow to represent the Dominion in the Grand Challenge Cup at the Melbourne Centenary Regatta at Henley-on-Yarra noxt Saturday is as follows: —C. A. Healey (stroke), A. K. G-. Jackson, S. A. Healey, A. Tonks, R. Gould, A. V. Shepherd, A. G. Moss, nnd R. S. Mowat (bow). The coxswain is P. Hartshorn, an experienced hand, who steered the Union senior four to -victory in tho national championships at Mercer prior to tho war. Ho weighs Bst 21b. The emergency is M. Luxford. Tho stroke, C. A. Healey, was stroko of the New Zealand crew in all tho big- events on the Thames and Seine in 1918-19. He is by far tho most experienced stroko the Dominion has had, as, in addition, ho has made two successful trips to Australia with the Union and All Black crews. He was coach and trainer of tho Now- Zealand eight-oar crew at the last Olympic Games at Los Angeles in 1932. Accompanying the crew as manager is Mr. E. J. Crotty, honorary secretary of the club,, and Mr. W. G. Coombes, the coach. Mr. Coombos was captain and selector of tho New Zealand Army eight which won the inter-Allied championship :it Paris after the war. Subsequent to competing at Melbourno the oarsmen and scullers will proceed to Sydney to contest events at the New South Wales Rowing Association's championship regatta on November 10, embarking for New Zeaalnd on November 14 and arriving in Auckland on November 17.
