LOCAL REGATTAS

DATES DECIDED

COMING FIXTURES

With club activities more or lest, under way with better weather conditions experienced during tho past week, oarsmen uro getting into training, and club competitions are proceeding satisfactorily. A regatta to which attention must soon be paid is the annual Norton Cup contest to be held on December 8. The action of tho Auckland Centre in postponing their proposed date for tho New Zealand championships on the Whau River until March 3 next, has allowed the Wellington body to fix the date for the local regatta. This event will take place on February 16, a time which should prove eminently suitable.

Proposals to revive the Wairau Regatta on Boxing Day are at present boing made. Mr. Alan Hale, of Blenheim, has written to tho Wellington Club advising that a meeting is being held to consider the advisability of resuscitating this regatta, which serves as a pipe-opener for ths Picton Regatta on New Year's Day. It is a suggestion well worthy of support—provided, of course, tliat Wellington clubs can see their way to transport the boats to both the Wairau and the Picton contests.
