11. Cleave, who played for Institute when in Wellington and who, on returning to Thames, won a place in the Auckland representative team, is now stationed in Auckland, and in the series of matches played on Monday he scored a century. Cleave batted splendidly for Auckland against Wellington on ths Basin Beserve last season.
G. Orr, a one-time Wellington representative cricketer, who has been out of the game for some four years, niado a
notable re-entry to Wanganui cricket this season. He made a score of 137 by almost faultless batting.
Tho Auckland Cricket Association has again decided to have a selection committee of three, and for the places there were five- nominees. The ballot resulted in tho return of last season's selectors, Messrs. N. C. Snedden, 11. Duncan, and W. Brook Smith. An amendment that there be a. sole selector had been defeated before nominations wero called.
The dates for the Otago:C'anlerbury Plunket Shield match, to be played in Dnncdin, have been altered in order to avoid a clash with the visit of the English women's cricket team to Duuedin. The match is now set down to be played on February 22, 23, 25, and 20.
Tho Auckland Cricket Association is to hold a special meeting next week to consider a. proposal that senior and second grade matches be commenced at 1.30 p.m. on Saturdays.
R. K. Oxenham, the well-known Queensland cricketer, had a hand injured when playing in a recent match. As a result he will be out of the game for a few weeks.
It is reported that entries for the Otago Cricket Association's competitions constitute a record. In all 72G players will be playing each Saturday under the association's jurisdiction. A scheme has been launched under which the association anticipates that it will secure 500 members.
A cricket match in aid of the Manchester Victoria Memorial Jewish Hospital was to be played on. a recent Saturday on the Broughton Cricket Club ground, between teams of leading international and county players captained by C.
