Hush, hush! lie low, beware!" Tho teapot hisses by the grate; A squeak is in the garden gate; The old owl hurries to his mate; There's magic in the air. Such fun and mystery.' So many jolly things to do; Such lots of whispered secrets, too. Ha, see the fire, green and blue, So nice and shivery! Yes, see the fire's glow, Build castles in the chimney black, And see, the soldiers' burning track
Fade as the big logs fizz and crack, And all the lights burn low. The apples bob and turn; And Jack o' Lantern's golden grin Shines as the elfin dancers spin Beneath the bare boughs long and thin; And fairy flashes burni Look, look! there in between ] The firelight and rocking chair We see bright eyes and rumpled hair, And merry faces everywhere, Tor this is Hallowe'en.
