ELVES-OF-THE RING
You loved our airy-fairy Spring' Page and it seemed .that: the Spring Child loved it too, for she answered her, welcome', with sun-filled days just ivailing to be packed tightly as picnic has-, kets with holiday joy. And (the mischief!). she scattered freckles and sunburned noses, lest pixie folk forgot her coming: in the fun of Labour weekend. .■■•■■ -■ ■ : • ■ ; : . "Spring: came so suddenly .■.;." wrote an Elf-of-the-Ring,":. . just as though she lutd been wrapped up in a parcel S,\.\and somebody snipped the string!" '.'■ . Was it because so much was calling out-of-doors that paint' brushes would not work? In your pictures of the garden lady there wire traces of hurry-scurry and few of the touches I like to find. "Cliantlius" (11), "Golden Slippers" (10), and "Button" (15) may expect a visit from' the Postman. : ■'■'-'■: And tonight, because Hallowe'en is a 'twixt-and-between night, we are celebrating it in the Ring. If you were a little boy or girl in Scotland or Wales you would be building bonfires to scare away ghosts and ivilches, or planning mysterious games and rites. Perhaps, for the merriment of it, you are planning a Hallowe'en parly yourself. And if you are .. . will you tell about 'it next week? ■ FAIRIEL
