SMART SILK JUMPER

This juniper which is knitted in crepe twist silk features an attractive knot stitch which gives the appearance of a self spot on the stocking stitch background. An interesting note is the slotted yoke through which a ribbon or scarf in some contrasting shado may be threaded and tied in a knot or bow on one shoulder.

Materials. —Three 4oz balls of crepe twist, one pair of No. 12 and No. 8 knitting needles, a set of five 9in No. 12 knitting needles with points at both ends, two yards of ribbon in a contrasting shade. Measurements. —Width all round at underarms, 35in. Length from shoulders to lower edge, 19in. Length of sleeve at underarm seam, sin.

The Back.—Using No. 12 needles, cast on 100 stitches. Proceed to work in rib of X 1, P 1, for four inches. Continue m this manner, making a slot every 15 stitches, and joining the slots as you finish them until you havo worked right around the yoke, lou will have 13 slots altogether, and your stitches on three needles again. Now work m rib for five rows. Cast off in rib, one stitch knitways and the next stitch .purlways. Join left shoulder seam and ribbons, leaving a space in the middle for a slot. Sew up sleeve and side seams. Sew in sleeves, seam to seam. Finish oft all loose threads around the yoke. Press the yoke carefully on the wrong side, where the stitches were knitted ur>. Thread ribbon through the slots and tie in a. bow.
