One of the oldest women in Great Britain celebrated liev 107 th birthday last montli. She is Mrs. Ellen Palmer, of Blackheath, London, who w bc=-u. in the reign of George. IV, and tciticiu bers the potato famine in Ireland anc! the Lancashire cotton famine of ■manyyears ago. A big family tea party was held at Mrs. Palmer's house. The most important, item on the table wa.s a birthday cake bearing 107 candles. "Wlien seen by a "Daily Mirror" representative Mrs. Palmer looked scarcely a day over eighty.
