It was mentioned in n. recent cable message that tlu. Emperor and Empress of Japan had for tho first lime given an audience to a woman, and that the New Zealand delegates were also given an audience and reception. This fact, it is stated, shows the great value which the Japanese people place upon the services of the society. All the nursing in hospitals in Japan is done by Red Cross nurses. The present world membership of the Cross is 24,000,000, including 14,000.000 juniors.
