The Mukden, correspondent of "The Times'' says that tlio Msuichukuo Government has informed British and
American oil companies operating in Manchuria that for reasons of national 1 defence and economic development, i and in the interests of the inhabitants jit has decided to create a State- oil j monopoly. I British officials hold that this violates ! j Article 30 of tho Nine-Power Treaty, j | The companies concerned are already \ j protesting to tho British and Amcri-j ! can Governments, asserting that the ] Japanese Government is seeking a j monopoly for itself, thus depriving! I nationals of other Powers of the right ', to legitimate trade.
