LORD VAL'S OVERDUE WIN

When Lord Val won the Members' Memorial Handicap at the Waikato Hunt Meeting on Monday he registered his first success for over two years, and also his first in the colours of Mr. A. H. Long, who purchased him over twelve months ago, since when he raced somewhat unluckily. He is in good form at present, and unless the tracks become very hard he may win again shortly. Lord Val finished strongly.,, to beat Master Korval and Protomint at Cambridge, and for once his effort was not too late. He was always well placed in the running, but he finally had only a neck to spare over Master Norval. The win was well overdue, as during the winter he was third in the Cornwall at Ellerslie, third in the YVhyte Handicap at Trentham, and also third in the Parliamentary at Trentham. Previously this season he was second in the Jellicoo Handicap at the Pakuranga Hunt Meeting, unplaced on the first day at the recent Auckland Meet ins, and" fourth in the King Edward Memorial Handicap on the final day.
