LIMARCH'S INJURY

HORSE OUT FOR SPELL

According to a letter received by Mr. O. Nicholson and the Hon. E. R. Davis, owners of Limaroh, from J. T. Jamieson m Melbourne, it is evident that the horse suffered a severe injury when pushed on to the rails while racing at Randwick and for which J. Pike, rider of Peter Pan, was suspended for two months. There is nothing the matter with Limarch's hindquarters, but, as he has wrenched a joint severely, it will be necessary to give him two or three months spell in the hope that the rest will effect a cure, although Jamieson states it is difficult to say whether the injury will be permanent or not. The horse has accordingly been turned out on Mr. Sol Green's Bacchus Marsh Estate in Victoria. Jamieson states that Limarch was in first-class condition and would have had excellent prospects of winning the Metropolitan Handicap, quite apart from the fact that the owners are now deprived of having a representative in the Melbourne Centenary Cup, in which Limarch should have had bright prospects. Limarch is a good horse, but' has been singularly unlucky, as just prior to running in tho Derby last year he injured his hoof and was unable to race until the autumn, when he dead-heated with Hall Mark in the V.R.C. St. Leger and subsequently beat him'in the A.J.C. St. Leger, as well as finishing in front of him in the King's Cup. To add to tho bad luck of the partnership, Jamieson had withdrawn Emg March from the Melbourne Cup prior to his striking form at Randwick, where he put up a good performance in winning over a mile and three-quarters in the good time of 2min 59sec, which was within a quarter of a second of the record established for the distance by Phar Lap in 1930.
