OBITUARY

MRS. ELIZABETH fWIST

The late Mrs. Elizabeth. Twist, who died at her residence, Mem Street, Nowtown, on Monday last, was one of tho earliest settlers in the locality. She was born in Maidstone, Ketit, England, 71 years ago, and arrived in Wellington with hor parents by the ship La Hoguo on May 25,1874. Tho family took up their residence in Adelaide Boad, where they became well known. Hor mother, the late Mrs. Lee, who died a few years' back, was well known for her activities in connection with St. Mark's Church. Ever since its erection Mrs. Twist had been an ardent worker in tho interests of St. Thomas' Anglican Church, Biddiford Street, whore her enthusiasm for the progress of the church wa much appreciated by tho parishioners. The late Mrs. Twist is survived by her husband and two children, Mrs. W. H. Norris, and Mr. Hilton Twist, of Wellington, four sisters, ono brother, and six grandchildren. The interment took place at tho Bolton Stroet Cemetery yesterday.

Prior to leaving for the cemetery a service was held at St. Tliomas' Church by the vicar, the Rev. C. V. Bookc, who also officiated at tho graveside. Many beautiful wreaths were received.
