AVIATOR AT NELSON

'NELSON, October 24.

High;-Lieutenant J. C. Mercer, flying the Canterbury Aero Club's Fox Moth ZK-ADH, arrived from Christchurch yesterday afternoon, landing at 4.20 after a flight occupying au hour and fifty mis utes. The inachino carried a passenger, Mr. Tracey Gough, of Christchurch. Tho route taken was directly over Hanmer to Nelson, most of the flying .being done at 12,000 feet. Today the machine proceeded to Collingvvood, and from there it is intended to fly down the West Coast to tho Franz josef Glacier, thence to Invercargill, Duntidin, and Christchurch, which city is expected to be reached tomorrow night. At a gathering of Nelson Acto Club members and visitors last night the airman showod lantern slide views of tho West Const and Southern Alps taken by him from the air, all on the route which will be covered by the company which intends to commence operations on. the West Coast early in December.
