The outbreak occurred shortly after 5 o'clock, and was apparently caused by the loakago of liquid bitumen or road mixture from one of two heating kettles on to the, fires below: The flames took hold quickly, and destroyed about fifteen foot of the top roof of the building, which is a three-storeyed structure. Arriving shortly after the outbreak was discovered, the Fire- Brigade was able to keep the flames from spreading to other parts of tho building, and soon hail tho fire under control. The damago is estimated to bo in the vicinity of £500.
