MEETING IN LONDON
NAVAL CONVERSATIONS
PRELUDE TO CONFERENCE
BRITAIN AND JAPAN
(British Offlcl.il Wireless.) i (Received October 24, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, October 23. The new series of bilateral naval con- . vcrsations, preliminary to next year's Naval Conference, was begun today when under the chairmanship of tho Prime Minister, who was accompanied by Sir John Simon (Foreign Secretary) and Sir Bolton Eyres Monsoll (First Lord of the Admiralty), together with Foreign Office and Admiralty experts, a meeting with the Japanese delegation took place at 10 Downing Street. The Japanese representatives wero the Ambassador, Mr. Matsudaira, and Rear-Admiral Yamamoto. British and Japanese experts were also present. The meeting lasted about three hours. A general exchange of views took place in regard to the future limitation of naval armaments. It is understood that the Japanese representatives will next meet the representatives of the United States. ' A further meeting between the Japanese and United Kingdom representatives will be held on Friday.
