Already tho leading pottery manufacturers aro oxpressing tho greatest appreciation. This evening tho accompanying mossago reachod London from Worcester:— An official at tho Worcester Koyal Porcelain Works (which has been manufacturing since 1751), said that tho china trado would bo gtvou a great and much-needed impetus by tho news that Now Zealand had. decided to admit this class of goods duty free. Although possibly the exponsivo products of tho Worcestor factory are unlikely to fool any immediate considerable benefit, tho industry as a whole would undoubtedly enjoy an increased volume of trade. Tho competition of choap Japanoso goods had boon the greatest bugboar of British manufacturers, who had boeu hit badly by competition from this sourco, and New Zoaland's decision to open up a. new preferential markot to our cheaper grades of china and porcelain should counterbalance losses to Japan. Mr. A. H. Papps, chairman of tho Worcester Chamber of Commerce, said: —"In view of tho necessity for encouraging trade with tho Dominions, New Zealand's decision is a very welcomo gosture, and it is very probablo that tho pottery industry will benefit considerably." Mr. A. E. Burch wires from Dorset:— "Information about the removal of tho tariff on British tabic china and earthenware has boeu received with great pleasure in this district. This gesture is certain to tend to increased trade in exports.
