QUEEN'S THEATRE.
"Tarzan the Ape Man," at the Queen's Theatre, is a story of an ivory-hunting expedition, including a girl, which encounters a herd of apes, led by a giant white man, who carries Jane away. A love springs up between Jane and Tarzan the ape man. Jane is subsequently rescued by her friends. The adventurers are about'to be put to death by pygmies when Tarzan comes to their aid. Subsequently the principal of the expedition dies of injuries. Jane decides to stay in the jungle with Tarzan, and Holt leaves them, giving up tlie girl when he sees that she really loves the treetop protector. Joan Crawford and Gary Cooper appear in "Today We Live," which will commence on Friday at tlie Queen's Theatre. This picture combines romance of a thrilling order with a clean-cut, forceful story of the war. Miss Crawford has a striking role as an aristocratic English girl who cannot stand remaining at home whilst her brother and the two men who love her are at the front. Franchot Tone, the brother, and Robert Young, the childhood sweetheart, are members of the torpedo squad, while Gary Cooper, who _is closest to her heart, enrols in the flying forces. In order to be near these three, Miss Crawford becomes a member of a British- ambulance Minit. • Cooper is reported killed, and his unexpected return I precipitates a stirring dramatic climax. Tho'picture is brought fp. a' close when two men give up their lives in the sinking of a'ship, in order to save Cooper for the girl whom they all love. Miss Craw-ford.-offers what is probably the finest work of her career. Excellent performances are contribubted by Roscoe Karns. Louise' Closser Hale, Rollo Lloyd, and Hilda. Vaughn. Among. the supporting subjects will.be a Laurel and.Hardy comedy, entitled "Scram," a ■ musical revue, a sporting item, and a Metro-tone news.
