WORKING WOMEN
DELEGATION TO RUSSIA
A. number of sections of women workers, called together by a working women's committee, were represented at a conference held in Wellington^ during the past few days. The organisations participating numbered 28, and wero from 18 different localities. The organisation of the conference camo under discussion first, and then reports.wero received from the various localities of the activities carried | on. Keen interest was expressed in regard to "anti-camp" opinions, in demonstrations in Christchureh, and in the work done at Gisborne, and in tho growth of the organisation throughout New Zealand. Many matters of special importance to women camo under discussion, such as unemployment, anti-war work, industrial conditions, women on farms, education, and the care of children. A great deal that was helpful to humanity was brought forward, and practical suggestions mado for improving the conditions of workers. It was decided to endeavour to send a women's delegation to the Soviet Union to report on conditions thero. At tho final session a "programme of action" was decided npon, and a national committee appointed to carry out tho work. A pleasant part of the conference was a social tendered to the delegate?, on the evening of Labour Day to welcome the visiting delegates, and final arrangements were made, for transfer ring to a training camp at Eastbourne.
