Tho Legislative Council met at 2.30
Tho Hon. XV. Perry asked the Leader of the Council whether, in view of the frequency of deaths on the roads duo to negligent driving and of the hardships and anomalies arising out of the application of tho rule of law expressed by the maxim actio personalis moritur cum persona, the Government intended to introduce legislation to revise the rule on tho lines of the Law Keform (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act passed by tho Imperial Parliament in July last. "Tho Government has decided to introduce legislation as soon as possible to alter the maxim actio personalis moritur cum persona," replied the Leader of tho Council (the Hon, B. Masters), "and the Solicitor-General is at present conferring with the JSTcw Zealand Law Society with a view to recommending tho form the proposed legislation should take.
"The Government has agreed to consult insurance and other interests before the proposals are finalised."
