RETIREMENT OF SECRETARY

Mr. It. Brown, secretary of tho AVellington Hospital Board, will shortly retire from the .service of the board owing to ill health. Mr. Brown has been a member of tho hospital staff for over 24. years. Ho originally occupied tho position of stores clerk, was subsequently promoted to be accountant, and on the resignation of Mr. Coyle to take up an appointment in the Newcastle Hospital, Now South AVales, Mr. Brown succeeded him as secretary. Ho has not been iv good health for some time, and, acting on medical advice, he has decided to givo up the stronuous duties of his present position. Mr. F. Castlo, chairman of the Wellington Hospital Board, stated today that he had boon in close touch with Mr. Brown for the last 20 years, and had always found him a very capable and faithful officer; he was extremely attentive to his duties, which he carried out with tho utmost courtesy. Mr. Castle said he trusted that release from the responsibilities of his office would result in Mr. Brown's restoration to his usual health. It is understood that at the meeting of tho board on Thursday next appreciative reference will be made to Mr. Brown's services, and -a motion will bo moved to grant him several months' sick leave.
