SYSTEM OF "ADOPTION"
PRINCE TO VISIT DURHAM

LONDON, October 21,
Ths Prince of Wales next month will visit Durham to inspect work done for the unemployed by local councils of social service. Sir J. Jarvis, High. Sheriff of Surrey, who is promoting a scheme for the adoption of distressed areas by more prosperous counties, has already received subscriptions amounting to £20,000 to help on the work. The first "adoption" is that of Jarrow-on-Tyno by the County of Surrey.
