NEW MARKETS
NEW ZEALAND PRODUCE
A CO-ORDINATING BOARD
Tho establishment of a co-ordinating board, to organise tho search for new markets for New Zealand produce, as recommended in the report of the Dairy Industry Commission, was commented on in favourablo terms by the Primo Minister in Christchureh on Saturday morning, states tho Christchureh "Stai\" Mr. Forbes said that such a board would be tho controlling body in all matters relating to tho rinding of new markets, experimental shipments, and in relation to intelligence concerning overseas treaties and agreements. It would co-operato with tho Moat Board, tho Dairy Control Board, tho Fruit Board, and the other bodies controlling tho export of produco, «nd would assist and organiso rather than act in any arbitrary manner.
"Such a co-ordinating board has been in demand for a long time," said the Prime Minister, "Tho feeling is that tho individual efforts of the various boards should bo more closely organised. There is a nood for cno agency to explore now outlets for Now Zoaland produce, to place our goods, and to be in closo touch with overseas situations such as treaties and trade agreements, koeping the Government well informed. "Its constitution would not interfere in any way with the functions of the other boards, nor involve any changes in them. It would work in harmony with tho others. Now the boards work nt their own particular business, md there is no co-ordination of their efforts. Such co-ordination is vory necessary.
"It is more and more imperative," Wr. Forbes stated, "that special attention should be devoted to the expansion of markets. We should take whatever fiction and spend what in necessary to tind additional outlets fur our produce. 'Plio matter is oin1 "f: «rrnt. moment 1n rts, •'*
