ROWING
CLUB RACES
Two races were rowed on Saturday afternoon by Wellington Club oarsmen for the Bert Shaw Cup. Carpenter (str), Morris, Dixon, and Mclvor beat McLean (str), Maney, L. Cookson, and Nicholson, by one length and a half in the first heat, A. McNair (str), Jeromson, Tomlinson, and Watson being in third place, four lengths back. In the second heat Spoor (str), Redding, Tester, and Meredith defeated, by two lengths, A. Anderson (str), Tregurtha, Scanlon, and Hayes. The final was rowed yesterday morning and resulted in a win for Spoor's crew by 3ft after a very close and exciting race. The final of the Star Boating Club's Fitzgerald Fours was postponed from Saturday afternoon. It is to be rowed between Cooke (str), Hutehens, Sidford. and Burge, and 13. Webb (str), Rees, Kalaugber, and Wycherlcy. Petone oarsmen rowed the. Trials Fours on Saturday afternoon, seven crews competing. There was some excellent racing, the event being won by Davis (str), A. Hope, Slinn, and Crooks.
