CAPTURED BY BANDITS
MISSIONARIES IN CHINA
MRS. HAYMAN RELEASED
PEKING, October 19.
A message to the British Legation from Yunnanfu- clears up tho situation regarding Mrs. Hayman.
Both she and Mrs. Bosshard, with their husbands, were captured by bandits on October 1, but Mrs. Hayman was subsequently released and has now arrived at Kweiyang, bringing tho bandits' demand for 100,000 silver dollars as ransom for each of the remain-ing-three captives.
Dispatches received at the British Legation from Chunking on October 9, reported the capture by Communists of three foreign missionaries belonging to the China Inland Mission stationed at Kiuchow, also known as Lao-hua-ping. They wore Mr. Hayman, a native of Auckland, M. Bosshardt, a Swiss, and Miss Gemblen, an American.
