WINNIPEG, October IS.

: Mr. John I. McFarland, general manager of the central selling agency .of tho Canadian wheat pools, tonight told a private gathering of delegates to tho annual conference of tho Manitoba wheat pool that ho expected to retire in about a year. Taking an optimistic, view of world marketing problems, Mr. MeFarland said that his job would be over in a year. The wheat surplus was fast disappearing and the glut on tho market was being eliminated despite Argentine operations. ' Mr. McFarland has been in charge of the Government stabilisation operations on the Winnipeg Grain Exchange.
