CUP HORSES COMPETING

The Oauiaru Trotting Club's Spring Meeting will bo held on Monday. _ The presence of eleven Trotting Cup candidates will give it a special interest. Ten o£ them will clash over a mile and a quarter, and Indianapolis will contest tho chief two-mile event. Betting will be on the single-pool system, with three dividends. The following horses may be fancied:—' 12.5: Improvers' Handicap (for trotters) —Prince Harvester, Discord, and Sonoma King. j 12.45: Trial Handicap—lraq, Paragon, and Llewellyn's Pet. 1.25: Dash Handicap—Dundee, Wise Guy, and Guy Mauritius. 2.10: Oamaru Handicap—Trampiast, Harvest Child, and Pegaway, 2.55: Waitaki Handicap (for trotters)— Modern Lady, Norma Bingen, and Flotsam. . ■; ■■•" ■..:'■' • / ■ • 3.40: -Electric Handicap—Sunny Morn,

On the first and third days of the New Zealand Cup carnival at Riccarton next month, the programme will open with a brush hurdle race, but on the second and fourth' days they will be replaced by high-weight handicaps' These events ■will be restricted to horses who havo completed the course in three hurdle vaces or steeplechases or who can comply with the club's special conditions for the events replacing hack races.
