WOOLLEY'S PRIZE

Wheu ,D, 6. Bradman in the early part' of the Australian cricket team's tour hit .up 100 runs in about seventy minutes it was thought that the wonder batsman would be hard to beat for the trophy awarded by Sir Walter Lawrence. However, Akers-Douglas clipped some minutes off Bradman's time in scoring a century in a firstclass match, and his speedy effort was in turn bettered by Frank Woolley. For a century in 03 minutes Woolley becomes the first holder of the handsome Lawrence trophy, and he also receives an order to the value of £.100 on an English firm. Woolley has very pleasant recollections of his visit to Wellington, and in a recent letter, to a friend here he asked to bo remembered to all whom ho had met during his visit. He was by no means at his best when he appeared on the • Basin EeseTve, but his outstanding ability as a player was well recognised, and his many admirers will be delighted at the good fortune which- has come his way in winning the Lawrence trophy.
