RAID ON SMOKERS
A. raid on. smokers was carried out recently by the German police in the woods of the. Grunewald, a favourite spot for 'weekenders on the outskirts of Berlin. In view of the great danger of forest fires, an order has been issued ,-igainst smoking in the woods. The Taid, in the words of the German newspapers, provided a "horrifying picture of the lack of discipline among hikers." .About 280 persons were summonsed; 74 were warned and fined on the spot: and eight', who "mude ft fuss." were forcibly dealt with.
