• ST. PATRICK'S COLLEGE ANNUAL TOURNAMENT - The annual boxing tournament of St. Patrick's College, Silverstream, was held at the college.' Mr. B. Guise was the referee, Messrs. Curtayne and Somerville judges, and Mr. McGowaii timekeeper. The results of the finals were as follows:— Light-heavyweight.—T. Tulloch, lOst 71b, bent G. lloitnes, 10«t 101b. Holmes put up a good display against a stronger and scientific opponent. Tigerweight.—D. McEvedy, 7st lib, beat R. de Tourist, 7st. McEvedy, with a long reach, made good use of his left to win by a fair margin. Junior Middleweight.—G. Cronin, 9st 01b, beat B. Welch, 9st 91b. Cronin was the- steadier boxer and wore down Welch, who was aggressive but inaccurate. Flyweight.—W. Tacon, 7st 81b, beat T. Dance, 7st 91b. A close and scientific bout, with Tacon the stronger and harder hitter. ' ' Junior Lightweight—J. Kirby, Bst 91b, beat K. McKay, Sst 131b. Kirby was the faster and won on his good footwork and cleaner punching. Novices' Weight.—J. Roche-Kelly, 6st 61b, beat M. Kitson, 6*t 21b. Roche-Kelly used both hands effectively,-and was more aggressive. It was a close fight, with Kitson a very, game loser, Lightweight.—L. Quinn, Bst 81b, beat P. Roach, Bst 121b. Quinn by paying attention to the body defeated a strong opponent. Junior Featherweight.—G.. Trundle, Bst, beat M. Kennedy, Bst 61b. Kennedy's defence was good, but Trundle did most of. the attacking. ' Bantamweight.—R. Sivers, 7st 111b, beat A. Smith, 76t 81b. Sivers with good footwork outboxed his opponent and gave a very clever display. Paperweight.—J. Wilkie, 7fit 41b, beat P. Minto, 7st 51b. A fight full of incident, with very clever work on both sides. A close decision. • ■ ■ Middleweight.—C. Cropp, 9st 121b, beat S. Higgins, 9st 31b. Cropp defeated . a lighter but very clever opponent by stronger punching and greater aggressiveFeatherweight.—P. Gallagher, ~Bst lib, beat D. Garland, Bst. Gallagher used the left beautifully to defeat a clever opponent. Mosquitoweight.—E. Luke, 6st 31b, beat R. Dwyer, 6st lib. A very pretty fight with very clever footwork by both. Heavyweight.—A. Hart, list 71b, beat B. Vile, list v 21b. An excellent heavyweight fight. Hart used the left beautifully. Both boxed well, and the margin was close. Trophy Winners.—Most scientific boxer, T. Tulloch; most improved boxer, McEvedy Cup, W. Tacon; gamest loser, M. Kitson. ___
