BAPTIST CHURCH JUBILEE
The jubilee celebrations of the Brooklyn Baptist Church commenced last night at'a tea in the School" hall provided by a committee of ladies under Mrs. H. Phi'lpott. The jubilee cake was cut. by Mrs. Fill, in whose home the Sunday School was held fifty years ago. After tea a pleasant hour wus spent recalling early days, the chief speakers being the Revs, W. E. Lambert, J. Takle, W. S. Rollings, Mrs. Takle, and Messrs. J.- Nicol and C. Collins. The gathering was later continued in the. cliurih;- where numerous greetings wete.re.ad from former pastors and others no longer resident in Wellington who had been at one time associated- with the church. The' Revs. M.. P. Lascelles, L. Boulton-Smith, and R. P. Keall offered congratulations respectively on behalf of the Baptist Union. of»New Zealand, the Wellington -auxiliary, and other churches of the district. Mr. R., A. Wright, M.P., also spoke. :■£&. letter of congratulation was received from the Municipal Electors' Association of \Bropklyn. At the suggestion of the chairman, the Rev. H. E. Edridge, an address by the Rev. W. S. Rollings on "The Ministry of the Church m the New Age," was held over, owing to the lateness of the hour, for another occasion m the near future.
