GREETINGS TO MELBOURNE BOARD

Speaking today in reply to the welcome home to him expressed by the chairman, Mr. N. W. Nelson, at the meeting of the Wellington Fire Board, Mr. Marcus Marks said that the Fire Boards of the cities of Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne had given him a •wonderful reception, and ho had been particularly impressed with the steps taken by the Australian boards to make the public acquainted with the work of the brigades in fire fighting.' In Melbourne, for instance, Friday afternoon v/as always a public afternoon at the stations, and the demonstrations ■ and displays were a delight to watch. Ho hoped that the Wellington Board would follow the. same principle when it went into its new homo in Clyde Quay. He suggested that Mr. W. H. Bennett, who was to represent the City Council at the Melbourne Centenary celebrations, would call upon the Melbourne Board, from whom ho would certainly receive a warm welcome. The board was enthusiastic over the idea, and Mr. Bennett will carry with him the greetings of the chairman and members of the Wellington Board to the Melbourne Board.
