FORGOTTEN MELODIES

STRAUSS MANUSCRIPTS

COMPOSER'S LUCKY FIND

LONDON, October 16.

Two hundred manuscripts of forgotten melodies by Johann Strauss were* rescued from a dnst-heap in Vienna, when Dr. Wilhekn Grosz, composer of the popular dance "Isle of Capri," happened to be passing a refuse lorry clearing debris from an old house. He paid the equivalent of half a crown for a bundle of manuscripts!, utterly unaware of their real value. Oa examining them at home he found many in tho handwriting of Strauss.

A selection will be broadcast from London on November 1, with words specially written by Captain Harry Graham.
