ESPERANTO CLUB
The weekly meeting of ( the. Wellington Esperanto Club took place last night in the V.M.C.A. Mr. Vernon Leek presided. A letter of greetings was received from the Sydney Esperanto Club. The lirst part of the evening.was devoted to tuition, the several classes being grouped around the blackboards and study tables. The senior students continued the translation into Esperanto of the New Zealand novel "Restless Earth," by Graeme Holder, a story of the Napier ■ earthquake. In the second portion of the evening Mr. William L. Edmaneon, F.8.E.A., gave a lantern lecture in Esperanto on the scenic glories of New Zealand, taking the members on a tour of both islands. The slides, by courtesy of the New Zealand Publicity and Tourist Department, embraced many scenes of thermal activity and underground caverns, lakes, sounds, and fiords, the peerless splendour of the Southern Alps, the beautiful glaciers of Franz Josef and Fox. the alpine magnificence of the Mount Cook region, as well as charming landscapes and seascapes that have made New Zealand famous in all parts of the world.
