Co-operative Society Dance, The activities of the Lyall Bay Group of the AVellington Co-operative Society wero brought to a close last niglit by a dance held in St. Judc's Hall. Songs by Mrs. Lyon and Miss il.ifanwy Davics and a recitation by Miss Peacockmadu pleasant interludes between tlie dances, and an amusing competition was won by Mrs. Collins. Mr. A. Free, LL.B., a director of the Co-operative Alliance, spoke briefly of the aims of the Co-operative Society. Among those present were Mr. aud Mrs. AValter Bromley and Miss Bromley, Mr. and Mrs. Free, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. T. Chorlton, Mr. and Mrs. Stew'art, Mr. and Mrs. Hackworth, Mrs. Forest, Major and Mrs. Pharazyn, Mr. and Mrs. Collin,' Signor and Mrs. Truda, Mr. and Mrs. Huntington, Misses Jellicoo, P. Lander, A. Thurston, I. Eggers, D. Landon-Lane, F. Smith, J. Skallcrass, Hazel Rowo, F. and E. Huntington, J. Power-Collins, and' Messrs. Thompson, Raeburn, Davies, Anderson, Moon, Andrews, Goldsmith, Keir, Eggers, Tennant. Tho j committee responsible for a very successful evening were Mrs. Stewart, Misses >. Chorlton, and E. Huntington. Mr, D. yon Stunner was an efficient M.C. "Kitchen Evening." A very pleasant "kitchen" evening was given recently at Hataitai by Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Armstrong in honour of tho approaching marriage of Miss Mavis Windsor. Many useful gifts for the • kitchen were received.
Games and competitions, interspersed with items given by Misses Jill Coopor, Queenie Hall-McLean, Majorie Meier, and Messrs. Erroll aud Cedrio Muir, were enjoyed by all. Sale of Curios. The Women's Christian Temperance' Union-will hold a sale iii their rooms at Constable Street, opening at halfpast ten tomorrow moruing, and continuing all day. A special "feature of the sale will be that of baskets, mats, etc., made by the Niue Island members of the union, and donated to the headquarters fund. There will also be toys, woollies, and fancy goods. As well as the curios, cakes, preserves, freesia seeds, and gladioli bulbs will be on sale. Pree Ambulance Dance. An enjoyable dance, organised by Mosdames F. S. Ball and C. B. Lempriero was held in ike social room at the Free Ambulance Station reeontly, the proceeds being devoted to tho Free Ambulance service. There were about 60 couples present. During the evening dainty refreshments were- served, and several competitions and novelty dances wore included in the programme, the winners being Mr. tfnd Mrs. Nixon, Miss E. Corcoran, Mrs. Ball, Mr. A. Watkins and Miss do Ady, and Mr. E. Turner and Miss Collycr. "Save the Pennies." * Mothers of "families wishing to economise would do well to visit the jumble sale at the Y.W.C.A. tomorrow evening. Thers.they will find a good assortment of clothing suitable either for remodelling or cutting up for children's frocks, and. it is hoped that many will avail themselves of the opportunity to "save the pennies" in a way which will enable them at the same time to assist an association doing a worth-while service in tho community. .
