The fourteenth annual conference oj r delegates of the Shipping Officers' Guild of New Zealand was held in Wellington yesterday, there beinj present delegates representing Aucfcp i land, Wellington, and. In moving the adoption of the 'report and balance-sheet for the year ended July" 31, the chairman briefly referred to; the guild's activities during 'the year. Owing to the serious trade depression certain ot the social functions held in previous years ' had been abandoned,. but keenness wa§> still being exhibited by the cricket en* p thusiaste. . . The report states that membership show* a slight drop on the numbers enrolled at the close of the previous year, in spite of a reduced subscription rate, but this caa •be mainly attributed to the financial stringency. Reduced income, consequent : upon a iower subscription rate, resulted ] in a small deficit on the year's working. The report and balance-sheet weri adopted. ; Mr. V. Hutchinson was re-elected pre« sident, and- the following as vice-presi* dents:—Messrs. W. J. Paul (Auckland), > R. W. McNab (Wellington), A. M. Hints ' (Chvistchurch). and A. Hould (Dunedin). Kight members of the executive council were also elected to represent the low/ , districts. The retiring auditor, Mr. v. W. A. Kellow was' also re-elected.
